Fujisawa

Fujisawa extends over 69 square kilometers between the Sagami Plateau in the north and the Shonan dunes in the south, facing the Pacific Ocean.

The settlement transformed from a temple town centered around Yugyoji Temple during medieval Japan to become an important post station on the Tokaido Road.

The Enoshima Electric Railway connects the city to neighboring Kamakura, operating as one of three remaining tram systems in Greater Tokyo.

The city offers direct train connections to Tokyo Station via the Tokaido line and to Shinjuku via the Odakyu line, with journey times around one hour.

The northern section contains hills formed by Fuji volcanic activity 400,000 years ago, while two rivers, the Sakai and Hikiji, flow southward into Sagami Bay.
