奈良縣立平城高等學校, Highschool in Japan
Nara Prefectural Heijo High School was a public high school in Nara that opened in 1980 and closed in 2022. The campus featured functional buildings with large windows, modern sports facilities including a gymnasium and swimming pool, and training grounds for traditional martial arts.
The school was founded in 1980 and served the local community for over 40 years. In 2006, it became the first in Japan to launch a full-time course for aspiring elementary school teachers, addressing teacher shortages in the region.
The location is easily accessible by public transportation with train and bus options nearby, requiring just a short walk from stations. Visitors can explore the surrounding area to visit nearby historical sites and local community centers on foot.
The school emblem was inspired by lotus flower patterns from tiles of the Nara period, symbolizing purity and growth. The annual Heijo Mountain Festival held each September was a major community event featuring student performances, food stalls, and public fireworks.
