Futai-ji

Futai-ji temple contains a primary hall featuring a Shō-kannon statue, surrounded by five Myo-O figures and includes a small Shinto shrine within.

The temple was established in 847 on the former mansion site of Emperor Heizei, when his grandson Ariwara no Narihira converted the location into a religious center.

The Shō-kannon statue, representing a form of Avalokiteśvara, stands as the main object of worship and reflects the temple's spiritual significance in Japanese Buddhism.

Located at 517 Horencho, the temple welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and can be reached through a 14-minute walk from Shinomiya Station.

The temple grounds display seasonal flowers such as camellia and kadsura vine, paying tribute to its founder Ariwara no Narihira, a renowned Heian-era poet.
