根古屋信号場, Abandoned railway signal station in Narita, Japan.
Negoya Signal Station was a small railway control facility on the Narita Line that managed train movement on this branch through a system of signals and crossing gates. The installation had two tracks and directed passenger trains between different sections of the route.
The signal station opened in 1991 as part of the expansion of rail access to Narita Airport. It was closed in 2009 when more modern automated systems took over its functions.
The signal station reflects Japanese railway engineering principles, emphasizing precise traffic control and operational safety standards.
The abandoned facility sits approximately 5 kilometers from Narita Station along the railway line. Today it is difficult to access and can only be viewed from a distance, as it is not open to visitors.
The facility was equipped with advanced safety technology such as ATS-P, a system for automatic train separation that prevents collisions. This was an important part of Japan's modern railway safety standards from the 1990s.
