Mount Yokote

Mount Yokote stands at 2,307 meters within the Shiga Kogen range in Joshin'etsukogen National Park, featuring multiple hiking paths and cable car access to different elevations. The terrain offers both forested lower slopes and open high-altitude areas with varying views depending on the route taken.

The mountain gained recognition through inclusion in several notable lists, such as the 300 Famous Japanese Mountains and two regional collections of celebrated peaks. This recognition reflects how the area has been valued by hikers and mountain enthusiasts over time.

The area around the mountain holds natural hot springs and traditional inns that shape how people live and spend time in the region. Visitors can experience these places and see how mountain hospitality and thermal bathing remain central to local life.

Using the cable car is a good option to reach higher elevations without walking the entire distance from the base. Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions change quickly at this elevation, especially early and late in the day.

The summit area features a moving walkway that carries visitors to viewing platforms with sight lines to the Northern Alps and Mount Fuji. This unusual convenience makes it easy for older or less experienced visitors to enjoy high-altitude panoramas.
