Asia-Pacific Import Mart, Combined facility in Asano, Japan

The Asia-Pacific Import Mart (AIM) is a complex in Asano, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, made up of a distribution center building and an exhibition hall building. The distribution center has offices and shops on floors 4 to 8, a food court and passport center on floor 2, and the Kitakyushu Child-Rearing Exchange Plaza "Genki no Mori" plus medium exhibition halls and meeting rooms on floor 3. The exhibition hall building functions as the new wing of the West Japan General Exhibition Center.

Built on the site of the former Kokura Municipal Yonemachi Elementary School, which closed in 1991, the Asia-Pacific Import Mart was planned under the national FAZ import-promotion program as Kokura's core import facility. The Yaohan group was to run an international wholesale centre in the distribution building, but its 1996 crisis and 1997 bankruptcy ended that plan. The third floor was converted in 2005 into the city's child-rearing exchange plaza and exhibition halls.

The site was a school until 1991: Kitakyushu Municipal Yonemachi Elementary School closed and its pupils moved to the present Ogura Chuo Elementary School, and AIM was built on the former grounds. The third floor now houses the city's child-rearing exchange plaza "Genki no Mori" and the West Japan General Exhibition Center's medium hall and meeting rooms.

The facility is designed for businesses involved in trade and exhibitions with meeting rooms and display areas available. Visitors should note that this is a commercial center primarily used for business activities and events.

The facility sits directly next to the West Japan General Exhibition Center, which strengthens the region's trade capabilities. This proximity allows coordinated use for major international trade events and exhibitions.
