Moji Akarenga Place, Industrial heritage museum in Moji-ku, Kitakyushu, Japan.
Moji Akarenga Place is a museum complex of red brick buildings along the waterfront with multiple exhibition areas focused on local industrial and maritime history. The structures date from a former brewery and now house permanent displays alongside rotating exhibitions about regional heritage.
The building was established in 1913 as a brewery and produced various beer brands including Sakura Beer under the management of Suzuki Shoten until closure in 2000. After the brewery shut down, the site was transformed into a museum complex to preserve the region's industrial heritage.
The complex tells the story of regional brewing craftsmanship and maritime traditions through displays that reveal how industrial work shaped the daily lives and economy of this port city.
The complex is accessible by local buses from major transit stations and offers parking for approximately 148 cars and 10 large vehicles. The waterfront location allows for a pleasant walk from the nearby train station.
The site houses the Kitakyushu Beer and Brick Museum, which showcases the evolution of brewing processes through preserved industrial machinery and historical documentation. This extensive collection of working brewing equipment reveals how technology developed over more than a century.
