Snoul Wildlife Sanctuary

Located between Mondulkiri and Kratié provinces, the sanctuary encompasses 619 square kilometers of evergreen forests, hills, and grassy clearings with pools.

The area was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1993 and received classification as an Important Bird Area before its dissolution in 2018.

Local communities around the sanctuary maintained traditional practices in resource management until environmental pressures led to changes in land use patterns.

The sanctuary location at coordinates 12°06′11″N 106°41′33″E requires visitors to arrange transportation from the city of Snuol in Kratié Province.

Camera traps deployed within the sanctuary captured the first photographs of wild tigers in Cambodia, confirming their presence in the region.
