Shangrila Resort Skardu

Shangrila Resort spreads along Lower Kachura Lake with cottages positioned at different elevations to take in water and mountain views. The property offers 30 rooms with fireplaces and operates multiple dining venues serving Pakistani and international cuisine.

A brigadier founded this first tourism accommodation in northern Pakistan in 1983 with the goal of developing travel to the Baltistan region. The resort began as a pioneering effort to open the mountainous areas for visitors.

The resort reflects local Balti building traditions through its architectural details and handcrafted decorations that draw from regional patterns and materials. This design creates spaces that feel connected to the surrounding landscape.

The location is easy to reach through complimentary airport transfers, making arrival and departure straightforward. The lakeside setting offers various areas to explore, with different elevations helping with orientation.

The heart of the property is a lake shaped like a heart, a feature many guests notice only upon arrival. The arrangement of guest rooms in a circle around this lake heightens the sense of seclusion.
