Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar is a downtown neighborhood in Singapore that mixes low-rise merchant houses from the 1800s with modern high-rise buildings, including the Guoco Tower as the city's tallest structure. The area started as a fishing village called Salinter and transformed into a major port zone after the Tanjong Pagar Dock Company was established in 1864. This shift brought economic activity and drew workers and merchants to the location.
