Oasia Hotel Downtown

Oasia Hotel Downtown is a skyscraper in Outram with an aluminum mesh exterior wrapped in climbing plants. Across its 27 floors, hundreds of flowering plants in orange and red tones cover the building's sides, creating a natural facade that stands out among surrounding office towers.

Construction began in 2012 and finished in 2016 as Singapore pursued more sustainable tall building designs. It represents a shift toward integrating nature into dense urban development rather than replacing it entirely.

The building shows how Singapore mixes nature into its dense urban center through hundreds of climbing plants on its sides. Visitors walking around the base notice birds and butterflies drawn to the greenery, transforming a busy business district into a more living space.

The building sits right along the street and is easy to approach from nearby public transport. The open spaces around its base provide places to walk through and rest while observing the greenery up close.

The building collects rainfall to water its planted facade, reducing dependency on outside water supplies. This closed-loop system lets the greenery thrive year-round without constant external maintenance.
