Oasia Hotel Downtown, Modern skyscraper hotel in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore
The Oasia Hotel Downtown is a contemporary high-rise with a distinctive red aluminum mesh facade covered with climbing plants, housing 314 guest rooms across 27 floors. The structure includes three swimming pools and a fitness center, with the vegetated exterior serving as a key feature of the overall design.
The architectural firm WOHA designed this building and completed it in 2016 as a pioneering project for sustainable high-rise construction in Singapore. The completion marked a turning point in how the city approached integrating greenery into dense urban structures.
The interior spaces reflect Singapore's diverse cultures through materials, patterns, and textures that designer Patricia Urquiola selected throughout the rooms and common areas. Guests can observe these cultural touches woven into the modern design of lobbies, corridors, and guest accommodations.
The hotel sits near Tanjong Pagar MRT station, providing direct access to Singapore's Central Business District and the surrounding neighborhood. The location makes it easy to reach other parts of the city using public transportation.
The red aluminum mesh facade hosts 21 species of climbing plants that provide natural insulation and reduce the building's energy consumption. This living facade system changes with the seasons, creating an ever-shifting visual appearance.
