Gaston County, Administrative county in North Carolina, United States.
Gaston County is an administrative county in the southern Piedmont region of North Carolina with several municipalities, including Gastonia as its county seat. The area connects different residential neighborhoods, commercial spaces, and industrial zones across its territory.
The county was created in 1846 from territory of Lincoln County and named after William Gaston, a prominent North Carolina Representative. The mid-1800s brought factory construction that significantly shaped the region's economic path.
The area reflects its roots as a settlement point for different communities who established farming and craft traditions here. Visitors can still see these historical influences in the older neighborhoods and the layout of local towns.
Interstate 85 and US Route 321 run through the region, connecting different towns and surrounding areas efficiently. Good road access makes it easy to navigate between various communities and their local facilities.
Textile mills built in the 1840s turned this region into one of the nation's leading cotton production centers. These industrial facilities shaped both the physical landscape and drew workers and skilled tradespeople from far and wide.
