Regional Enterprise Tower, Skyscraper in Downtown Pittsburgh, United States.
The Regional Enterprise Tower is a 30-story office building with residential units in downtown Pittsburgh, clad in an aluminum exterior only 3 millimeters thick. It combines office space in the lower levels with retail on the ground floor and 241 apartments in the upper floors.
The building was completed in 1953 by architects Harrison & Abramovitz and replaced the Nixon Theater that occupied the site from 1903 to 1950. Its conversion to mixed-use with residential apartments occurred in 2016, bringing new activity to the downtown area.
The building houses people from different walks of life: office workers spend their days in the upper floors, while residents and shoppers move through the retail and dining areas below. This mix of uses creates a diverse social space that serves the downtown community.
The building is easily accessible in downtown Pittsburgh with separate entrances for offices, residences, and retail areas. Visitors can find parking nearby and should note that the retail areas are open during standard business hours.
The windows of this building feature a unique rotating mechanism that allows them to turn completely inward. This means window maintenance and cleaning can be done from inside without workers needing to work on the exterior.
