The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel, a closed casino and hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey
The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel was a large building at the southern end of the Atlantic City Boardwalk with over 800 rooms and an extensive gaming floor. The property featured multiple restaurants, including Patsy's Italian Restaurant and a buffet, along with a Beach Bar offering ocean views.
The casino opened in December 1980 and was among the younger establishments on the boardwalk. Throughout its history, it changed names and ownership multiple times, from Golden Nugget to Bally's Grand and Atlantic City Hilton, before closing permanently in January 2014 after 34 years of operation.
The Atlantic Club was known locally as a gathering place with the slogan 'A casino for the rest of us,' offering a relaxed setting for residents. The gaming floor with hundreds of slot machines and card tables created a lively atmosphere where visitors could hear coins clinking and chips being shuffled.
The building is located at the southern end of the Atlantic City Boardwalk and is easily accessible on foot, though it has remained empty since closing. The surrounding area is actively undergoing renovation, so parts of the facade and plaza may be restricted or under maintenance.
The building underwent renovations in 2012 that made many rooms brighter and more modern, only to close permanently just two years later. After nearly a decade of neglect, a development company now plans to transform the site into a mixed-use complex with condominiums and a boutique hotel, potentially breathing new life into the location.
