The Niagara, hotel in New York
The Niagara is a twelve-story hotel from the early 1900s located in the heart of Niagara Falls, New York, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is currently undergoing full restoration and is planned to reopen as a hotel with guest rooms, dining areas, and event spaces.
The hotel was built in the early 1900s and quickly became one of the main places for lodging and events in the area. After decades of decline, the USA Niagara Development Corporation purchased the building in 2016 to begin its restoration.
The Niagara stands in a city that has drawn travelers from around the world for well over a century, and the building itself is part of that story. Walking past it today, visitors can read the layers of the city's tourism history in its facade.
The interior of the building is not open to visitors while renovation work is ongoing, with completion expected around late 2026. The exterior can be seen from the street, and the surrounding public spaces are free to walk through.
The building operated as a Travelodge until 2007 and then stood empty for nearly two decades before work on its revival began. Its restoration is tied to a broader plan that also includes the creation of new public parks in the surrounding blocks.
