Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Hotel and casino on Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey
Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino was a hotel and gaming complex on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The building contained 906 guest rooms ranging from standard accommodations to penthouse suites with views over the Atlantic Ocean.
The property opened in May 1984 through a partnership between Donald Trump and Harrah's. Trump later acquired full control of the casino in 1986.
The hotel took its name from Donald Trump, who owned the property during the 1980s and placed his name prominently on the exterior. The facade with its golden lettering became a widely recognized landmark along the boardwalk, visible to visitors from a distance.
The complex offered several restaurants, shops, and an event space for concerts and sporting events. Visitors could enter directly from the boardwalk through the main entrance.
The property ended its 30-year presence on Atlantic City's boardwalk with a controlled implosion on February 17, 2021. The demolition took place early in the morning and was broadcast live on television, allowing viewers across the region to watch the building's end.
