Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area

Beartooth Basin is a summer ski area in Shoshone National Forest that operates two high-speed surface lifts across about 90 acres of terrain. Located at high elevation, the area maintains consistent snow conditions that allow skiing through the summer months.

The area was established in the 1950s by three Austrian skiers, Pepi Gramshammer, Eric Sailer, and Andrew Molterer, as a training ground for Alpine racers. This origin shaped the facility's role as a summer skiing destination that continues today.

The ski area draws athletes from around the world seeking an unusual summer skiing experience. Its high mountain setting creates a gathering place for people who prefer skiing beyond the traditional winter season.
