Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area

Beartooth Basin operates two high-speed surface lifts across 90 acres of terrain at high elevation, providing excellent snow conditions for skiing until July.

The ski area began in the 1950s when Austrian skiers Pepi Gramshammer, Eric Sailer, and Andrew Molterer established it as a summer training ground for Alpine racing.

The location within Shoshone National Forest serves as a center for winter sports enthusiasts who gather to experience skiing during summer months.

Located 23 miles south of Red Lodge, Montana on Highway 212, the ski area requires visitors to check current operating dates due to seasonal variations.

The facility represents the only designated summer-exclusive ski area in the United States, operating from late May through early July depending on conditions.
