Barronette Peak, Mountain summit in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, US.
Barronette Peak is a mountain summit in the Absaroka Range within Yellowstone National Park, rising to 10,354 feet in elevation. The peak is covered with dense conifer forests and features varied terrain across its slopes.
The Hayden Geological Survey named the peak in 1878 after Collins Jack Baronette, though his name was misspelled in the official record. This original misspelling has remained the official designation to the present day.
Native American tribes established deep connections with the land surrounding Barronette Peak, utilizing its resources and incorporating the mountain into their traditions.
The Barronette Trail starts at Soda Butte bridges on the Northeast Entrance Road and runs through conifer forests for several miles. Winter and early spring conditions can make the trail challenging, so warmer months offer easier hiking access.
This peak ranks among the most prominent elevations in the park and stands well above its surroundings. Its commanding position in the Absaroka Range makes it a notable landmark in the eastern portion of the park.
