Genoa Park, Urban park in Downtown Columbus, United States
Genoa Park sits along the western bank of the Scioto River between Rich Street and Broad Street, featuring an amphitheater equipped with LED lighting for evening events. The grounds include open lawns, walking paths, and seating areas that take advantage of river views.
The park opened in 1999 and takes its name from Genoa, the Italian city where Christopher Columbus was born. This naming choice links the city of Columbus to its historical connection with exploration and European heritage.
The bronze deer sculptures by Terry Allen reference the Shawnee meaning of Scioto as hairy water, connecting the park to the land's original indigenous history. These artworks shape how visitors experience and move through the space.
The park is located at 303 West Broad Street and is open daily from 7 AM to 11 PM, making it accessible throughout the day. Paved pathways connect directly to the Scioto Mile, the riverside walking trail that runs along the water.
Within the park stands the Columbus Police Memorial, which displays the names of officers who have died in the line of duty. The memorial is accompanied by 24 bronze basin fountains that create a contemplative space for remembrance.
