Theatre of Digital Art, Digital art gallery and theatre in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE
The Theatre of Digital Art is an exhibition and performance space inside Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, where projections cover every wall, floor, and ceiling. The venue is divided into five areas used for art shows, concerts, events, and workshops.
The venue opened in 2019 as one of the first spaces in the region dedicated entirely to digital art. Its arrival followed a broader push in Dubai to develop the city as a destination for contemporary creativity.
The shows display digital versions of works by painters like Van Gogh and Monet projected across every surface in the room. Visitors stand inside the painting rather than in front of it, which changes how the work is experienced.
Each of the five areas may show different programming on any given day, so it is worth checking what is on before you go. Allow enough time to move between sections, as the experience in each space is quite different.
The venue has incorporated NFTs and blockchain-linked artworks into its shows, making it one of the few exhibition spaces in the Middle East to actively feature this type of work. This means some pieces on display exist only as digital assets, with no physical version anywhere.
