Dongjiguan Mountain

Dongjiguan Mountain is a hilltop fortress in Lüshunkou built with thick concrete walls, defensive moats, and ammunition storage arranged in a pentagonal layout. The structure displays typical Russian military engineering from the early 1900s.

This Russian fortress came under heavy bombardment in 1904 during the conflict between Russia and Japan, eventually falling to Japanese forces. The siege marked a turning point in Asian military history.

The fortress now functions as a museum dedicated to the Russo-Japanese War, displaying military artifacts, weapons, and personal items from soldiers. Visitors gain insight into how people experienced life during the siege.

The path to the top is steep with numerous steps, so wear comfortable shoes and allow extra time for climbing. The museum displays inside require time to view properly, so plan for at least two hours of exploration.

Bullet holes are clearly visible on the outer walls as reminders of the fighting that took place here. Underground tunnels remain partially accessible and show the raw reality of the bombardment in 1904.
