Dalian Laodong Park, Public park in central Dalian, China
Laodong Park is a large green space in central Dalian with walking paths, planted gardens, and a lake in the center where boats can be rented. The grounds include playgrounds, fitness areas, food vendors, and public restrooms throughout the space.
The park was established in 1898 by Russia and originally called West Park, then went through several name changes under different rulers. It received its current name in 1949 as the space became more focused on public recreation.
This is Dalian's main space dedicated to honoring workers, with sculptures celebrating labor throughout the grounds. A Korean blessing bell from the 14th century draws visitors who come to ring it and make wishes.
The park is easy to reach from the railway station and has clear paths for moving around the grounds. Wear comfortable walking shoes and visit during warmer months when all activities and food vendors are operating.
A large soccer ball structure in the park contains a rotating restaurant, a surprising feature amid the gardens and pathways. The grounds also house the only ski resort within Dalian's urban area, offering an unusual winter activity option.
