Dalian Development Area

Dalian Development Area is an industrial and business zone in Jinzhou District that spreads across a large territory with factories, research facilities, and residential neighborhoods. The area functions like its own city with modern infrastructure and was specifically designed to support economic activities.

The zone was established in 1984 as one of China's first economic development areas and marked the beginning of a transformation from agricultural land to a modern industrial center. This development was part of China's opening to international investment and foreign companies.

The development zone includes 31 distinct ethnic groups within its population of 360,000 residents, creating a diverse community with varied traditions.

The zone is connected to central Dalian through metro lines 3 and 7, making it easy for visitors and workers to navigate the area. Foreign currencies and international payment methods are generally accepted, though it helps to ask for directions to specific business districts or facilities.

The area includes the Dalian DD Port, a specialized harbor for bio-industry and digital operations that sits next to the adjacent Free Trade Zone. This specialization sets it apart from typical industrial zones and attracts companies focused on biotechnology and innovation.
