The installation transformed from a Japanese naval facility to an American military base following the conclusion of World War II in 1945.
The Department of Defense Education Activity operates Ikego Elementary School within the complex, educating children from military families stationed in Japan.
The residential complex maintains multiple entry gates with scheduled operating hours and offers shuttle services connecting to regional transportation hubs.
