Camp Foster

Camp Foster is a military base in Ginowan that extends across multiple municipalities on Okinawa Island and serves as the headquarters for Marine Corps Base Butler. The installation includes schools, housing zones, shopping centers, entertainment areas, medical facilities, and recreational spaces for military personnel and their families.

The base received its name in honor of Private First Class William A. Foster, who earned the Medal of Honor during World War II. This naming reflects the recognition of his service and shapes the installation's identity.
