Shōden Temple, Buddhist temple in Kita-ku, Kyoto, Japan.

The main hall of Shoden Temple presents traditional Japanese architectural elements with wooden beams, sliding doors, and elevated foundations on a hilltop location.

Built in 1268 during the Kamakura period, the temple received its current main hall in 1652 when it was relocated from Fushimi Castle.

The temple contains fusuma paintings by Kano Sanraku and features a dry landscape garden with azalea bushes arranged in patterns of seven, five, and three.

The temple welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 to 17:00, with an entrance fee of 400 yen, located 15 minutes by foot from the Shinko-in Mae bus stop.

The ceiling of the main hall retains historical handprints and footprints, while the garden incorporates Mount Hiei as a backdrop without using any stones.
