飛騨荘川の里, Folk museum in Shirakawa, Japan

The Hida Shōkawa no Sato museum presents traditional Japanese farmhouses and agricultural tools in a mountainous setting within Gifu Prefecture.

The museum preserves buildings from the former Shōkawa village, which were relocated here to protect them from submersion during the construction of a dam in 1962.

Visitors can participate in traditional craft workshops including pottery making, paper crafting, and wood carving while learning from local artisans.

The museum provides multilingual information panels and guided tours, with a dedicated parking area and regular bus services from Takayama Station.

The site maintains a collection of functioning water wheels that demonstrate traditional rice milling techniques used in the Hida region.
