The Chatwal New York, Luxury hotel in Theatre District, Manhattan, United States
The Chatwal New York is a neoclassical hotel in the Theater District with 76 rooms and 28 suites designed by architect Stanford White. The building at 130 West 44th Street features the refined architectural details typical of its early 20th century construction.
The building opened in 1905 as the headquarters of the Lambs theatrical club, an exclusive gathering space for performers of that era. It was converted into a hotel following major renovations that concluded in 2010.
The building was originally a gathering place for Broadway performers and maintains that connection to the theater world today. Visitors can feel the entertainment history in the elegant rooms and the setting next to several theaters.
The hotel sits in the heart of the Theater District with easy walking access to Times Square and Broadway theaters. Guests can explore the neighborhood on foot and take advantage of the nearby restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues.
The building holds both National Register of Historic Places and New York City Landmark designations, a dual recognition few structures achieve. Its 14 themed suites each feature private designer terraces offering views over the neighborhood.
