Antelope Canyon X

Antelope Canyon X is a slot canyon with curved sandstone walls towering over 100 feet and creating narrow winding passages throughout. Water has carved these striking formations from the Colorado Plateau sandstone layers over countless generations.

The canyon formed through water and wind erosion over millions of years, carving deep channels through the sandstone layers. These natural processes shaped the distinctive curved walls that remain visible today.

This place holds deep meaning for the Navajo Nation and is protected as a sacred site by the community. Local guides share their knowledge about the relationship between the land and their culture as you walk through the passages.

Wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven and sometimes slippery, especially after rain. A guided tour with experienced guides is necessary to safely navigate the passages and learn about the site.

On hot summer days, sunlight enters through narrow openings in the ceiling and casts vivid orange and purple hues on the walls. This natural light effect occurs only at certain angles and creates a rare natural display.
