Acapulco Diamante, Beach in Acapulco, Mexico
Acapulco Diamante is a coastal stretch in southern Acapulco, Mexico, running about 21 kilometers along the Pacific and bordered by modern hotels and housing developments. The sand here is pale and fine, while the wave action varies depending on time of day and weather conditions.
During the 1950s, Acapulco began shifting from a fishing village into an international resort town, with larger hotel construction starting in the downtown area first. The Diamante zone was developed later, from the 1990s onward, to accommodate growing demand for new accommodation.
Families from nearby neighborhoods gather on weekend afternoons to play volleyball and share grilled seafood under palm-shade shelters. Vendors walk along the shore offering fresh coconut water, cut fruit, and woven sun hats made in surrounding villages.
Access is generally through hotel entrances or marked public entry points distributed along the coastal road. Lifeguards are present during daylight hours, and it is advisable to check wave conditions, especially in the afternoon.
Between the rocks, natural pools form where small tropical fish gather in the morning, creating calm bathing spots suitable for children. Some of these spots are used by locals as safe family swimming zones.
