The Retreat on Charleston Peak
The Retreat on Charleston Peak is a lodge high in Mount Charleston mountains, surrounded by tall pines and snow-capped peaks. The timber and stone building spans multiple levels with king suites on upper floors featuring timber ceilings and light-colored walls.
The lodge was built in the 1980s and served as a conference venue for many years. In 2018, Rhea Hospitality from North Carolina took over the building and began comprehensive renovations along with sustainability improvements.
The lodge takes its name from its location on Charleston Peak and appeals to visitors seeking quiet in nature. The rustic style with timber beams and stone accents creates a cozy mountain feel that contrasts with city life.
The location sits in a national forest on a remote mountain stretch with few nearby shops or restaurants, so visitors should arrive prepared. The lodge offers WiFi in all rooms and public areas, and winter is the best time to visit if you want snow and fireplace warmth.
The dining venue transformed from a smoky old lounge into Canyons Restaurant serving coffee from local roasters and fresh-baked goods. The menu blends traditional mountain fare like biscuits with gravy and sausage with modern options such as fried cauliflower and pork belly.
