Casa Histórica - Museo Nacional de la Independencia

Casa Histórica is a restored colonial building in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán that displays permanent exhibits on Argentine independence. The rooms contain 19th-century furniture, documents and objects connected to the break from Spanish rule.

On July 9, 1816, representatives from several provinces signed the independence declaration of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata in this building. The colonial structure was later modified and underwent major restoration work during the 20th century.

Families from across Argentina visit the hall to connect with the story of their nation's founding. The site serves as a focal point in collective memory and hosts symbolic ceremonies throughout the year.

Admission is free and guided tours are available in several languages upon request. Visitors interested in architecture or original documents should allow enough time to explore the rooms.

The original wooden table where delegates signed the declaration remains in the hall. The room itself preserves its early 19th-century layout almost unchanged.
