Museo del Fuego Nuevo, Archaeological museum in Iztapalapa, Mexico.

The Museo del Fuego Nuevo is an archaeological museum in Iztapalapa that displays objects discovered on the northern slope of Huizachtépetl. The collection includes ancient codex calendars and regional maps from the 1500s that provide information about the area's past.

The museum was established in 1998 based on excavations conducted in 1997 and 1998 in Cerro de la Estrella National Park. These digs uncovered significant finds that are now displayed and made accessible to the public.

The museum displays models of the ancient lake landscape and presents the Ceremony of the New Fire, a major pre-Hispanic ritual performed on this mountain. Exhibits explain how this ceremony unfolded and what role this location held in Aztec religious life.

The museum is located in Cerro de la Estrella National Park and is open Tuesday through Sunday with no entrance fee. The building sits on the mountainside, so visitors should expect some uphill walking to reach it.

The building itself has a pyramid-like shape with lateral staircases that wind around stepped corridors in a circular path. This distinctive design mirrors the shape of the mountain beneath it.
