The facility spans over 2 hectares, featuring 29 animal species and 36 plant species, including indigenous trees like Bubinga, Iroko, and Moabi.
The zoo opened in 1951 under colonial administration and served as a quarantine space for export animals until 1971, when Cameroonian authorities took control.
The garden maintains partnerships with Ape Action Africa organization, focusing on primate care and environmental education for local communities.
The garden opens daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with entrance fees of 500 FCFA for adults and 200 FCFA for children.
The collection includes rare Central African primates such as mandrills, agile mangabeys, and De Brazza's monkeys living in secured enclosures.
