Territory Wildlife Park
Territory Wildlife Park is a zoo in Berry Springs near Darwin that spans about 400 hectares with separate themed areas showcasing Australian animals. The park features enclosures for wallabies, kangaroos, dingoes, and birds, along with aviaries, an aquarium, and a nocturnal house where visitors can observe animals active at night.
The park was created to help visitors understand the wildlife of the Australian outback by displaying animals in settings close to their natural homes. It serves a conservation role by protecting local species and educating the public about the importance of caring for wildlife.
The park serves as a place where visitors connect with Australian wildlife in a setting designed to feel natural and open. The quiet atmosphere and focus on observing animals in their native-style habitats encourages a respectful approach to nature and learning about local species.
The park opens daily at 9 in the morning, closing at 3 in the afternoon during the wet season (October to March) and at 4 during the dry season (April to September). It is best to arrive early when animals are most active, and visitors should bring water and wear hats due to the warm climate and the spread-out layout.
The park operates a train service that transports visitors across the expansive grounds, making exploration easier in the warm weather. There is also a special nocturnal house where visitors can see animals active at night, such as owls and small marsupials, that would normally be hidden from view.
