Pantai Hamadi, Public beach in Jayapura, Indonesia

Pantai Hamadi stretches along a coastline with light-colored sand bordered by coral formations and protective seawalls. The beach features natural areas of shallower water created by coral rock that breaks waves and forms sheltered zones.

The beach was the site of a significant military command base during World War II when the city was known by a different name. This military presence marked a turning point in the area's development.

The beach is a meeting place where you can watch local fishermen at work and vendors preparing fresh seafood for daily consumption. The simple fishing structures and food stalls reveal how communities along this coast have sustained themselves through the sea for generations.

The water is typically calm and shallow in the areas between coral formations, making it safe for swimming. Food and beverage stalls as well as rental services operate throughout the day, making visits convenient.

The coral rock creates natural channels and shallow coves that resemble constructed pools but formed entirely by nature. These formations took shape over thousands of years through erosion and sediment accumulation, giving the beach its distinctive layout.
