Padang Padang

Padang Padang is a small beach sheltered within a cove formed by tall limestone cliffs, featuring white sand and turquoise waters. The sandy area stretches roughly 110 meters and sits protected by steep rock walls that naturally shape the incoming waves.

The beach gained worldwide attention in 2010 when it was used as a filming location for 'Eat Pray Love' starring Julia Roberts. This film appearance became a turning point that brought the cove into the public eye.

Local Balinese vendors operate small warungs along the shore, preparing fresh grilled fish and regional dishes using traditional methods. These simple food stalls are woven into daily beach life and show how the community uses this space.

Reaching the beach requires descending roughly 120 stone steps through a narrow, cave-like passage carved into the cliff. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a tiring climb back up, especially during hot weather.

The cove is a hub for surfers drawn to the Padang Padang Left Break, a wave formation that hosts major competitions. The annual Rip Curl Cup brings experienced surfers from around the world to test themselves on these waters.
