Pantai Ungapan

Pantai Ungapan is a sand beach located on the southern coast of East Java, where black and white sand meet and create a striking colour contrast along the shoreline. Steep cliffs and thick vegetation frame the entire stretch, forming a sheltered natural setting.

The beach was developed as a tourism destination in the early 2010s and received water sports facilities in 2017. These infrastructure improvements transformed it from a quiet fishing area into a destination for recreational activities.

The beach is a working space for local fishing communities who land their daily catches here and maintain their boats along the shore. Visitors can observe the rhythm of this maritime life and how the place remains deeply connected to the sea.

The beach is best visited during the drier season when ocean waves are calmer and weather conditions more stable. Clear access paths lead down to the sand, and ample parking space is available for both cars and motorcycles.

A river mouth from the Panguluran creates a natural lagoon with calm waters right beside the main beach, offering a rare opportunity to swim safely even when ocean waves are strong. This sheltered basin provides a peaceful water experience in contrast to the rough surf outside.
