Pantai Sendangbir

Pantai Sendangbir is a beach on the East Java coast featuring white sand and a clear view toward Sempu Island across the water. It serves as a working fishing port with an auction hall where the morning catch is traded.

This beach has long served as a landing point for fishing communities in the region, allowing them to continue their maritime work. Its role as a fishing trade center has remained largely unchanged across generations.

Local fishermen conduct their daily auctions on the beach, selling tuna, squid, and other catches as they have done for generations. This fishing tradition shapes how the community relates to the sea and is visible in the rhythm of morning activity.

You can buy seafood directly at the morning auction from fishermen at much lower prices than markets, and have it grilled at stalls nearby. Visiting early in the morning gives you the most activity and best selection.

The beach offers an unexpected view of nearby Sempu Island, which appears as a natural landmark across the water. This outlook makes the location special when walking along the shore at sunrise.
