Nehalem Beach

Nehalem Beach is a sandy shore along the Pacific Ocean in Tillamook County with open sand, coastal forests, and natural dunes. The area has marked walking routes and is part of a larger protected space that combines ocean access, bay views, and woodland trails.

The shore became publicly accessible in 1938 when Tillamook County transferred the land to the state. This action created the foundation for the protected area that exists there today.

Local fishermen regularly gather at the beach to catch Chinook salmon, sturgeon, and steelhead trout throughout different seasons of the year.

Access is easy with marked parking areas and walking paths throughout the grounds. Visitors can spend time on the beach itself or explore the connected forest trails nearby.

The shore sits between the open ocean and a bay, creating a mixing point of two different water systems. This location lets visitors experience both marine and sheltered water habitats in one place.
