Short Sand Beach

Short Sand Beach stretches for more than two kilometers along the Pacific coast, flanked by dense forests and volcanic basalt cliffs.

The beach area became part of Oswald West State Park in 1931, marking the beginning of Oregon's coastal land preservation efforts.

Local surfers refer to this location as Shorty's, making it a central gathering point for the Pacific Northwest surfing community.

Visitors can reach the beach through a half-mile forest trail from the main parking lot on Highway 101.

Short Sand Creek crosses the beach, creating a natural freshwater source where it meets the Pacific Ocean.
