Anita Mui Statue, Bronze statue in Tsim Sha Tsui East Waterfront, Hong Kong.
The Anita Mui Statue is a bronze figure standing about 2 meters (6.5 feet) tall in a waterfront garden at Tsim Sha Tsui East. It captures the performer in an expressive pose, as if she were on stage.
This memorial was unveiled in 2014 to honor Anita Mui, who had a legendary career in music and film before her death in 2003. She was one of Hong Kong's most successful performers and left a lasting impact on the entertainment world.
The inscription at the base, written by actor Andy Lau, honors Anita Mui as 'Daughter of Hong Kong'. The statue stands in a garden dedicated to memorializing performers from the entertainment world.
The statue sits in the Podium Garden along Tsim Sha Tsui East Waterfront, an easily accessible area along the harbor. This spot is best explored on foot and offers a pleasant walk with views over the water.
This is only the third permanent memorial dedicated to an entertainment personality in Hong Kong, following Bruce Lee and the animated character McDull. The fact that space was made for a singer and actress alongside such renowned figures speaks to her special standing in the city.
