Tung Ying Building, Former office building at Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.
Tung Ying Building was a 17-story office structure on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui that combined business spaces with ground-level shopping. The structure was managed by the Hotung family and occupied a prominent spot in this busy commercial area.
The structure was built in 1965 and named after Sir Robert Hotung and his wife, with a commemorative statue displayed on the ground floor. The family maintained ownership under a condition that eventually changed, leading to demolition in 2006.
The building housed the Golden Harvest film company, a key player in Hong Kong's movie industry. This location represented how business and entertainment were closely linked in the city's development.
The structure no longer exists as it was demolished in 2006 to make way for a new 29-story shopping complex called The One. Visitors today can see the modern structure that replaced this former location on the same site.
The building was a hub for film production and showcased Hong Kong's connection to the global entertainment industry in the 1970s. Its location on Nathan Road made it a crossroads between commerce and cultural output.
