Waldorf Astoria Miami, construction skyscraper in Miami

This downtown Miami skyscraper reaches over 1,050 feet and will be Florida's tallest building when construction finishes in 2028. The design stacks offset glass blocks that create a modern look, with each segment holding about ten floors and forming a clearly defined vertical structure.

Construction began in late 2022 on a site previously planned for the never-completed Empire World Towers project. The complex secured over 600 million dollars in funding, the largest amount ever granted for a residential project in South Florida.

The tower takes its name from the famous New York hotel and represents luxury and high-end service worldwide. In Miami, it marks a new era of upscale living that attracts wealthy buyers from many countries and reinforces the city's international character.

The building stands on Biscayne Boulevard near Bayfront Park in the city center, surrounded by offices and shops. The construction site is visible from outside, with cranes and building work continuing until final completion in a few years.

The largest penthouse south of New York City sits in this tower and covers over 30,000 square feet across multiple levels. The foundation pour lasted 36 hours without interruption, an exceptional engineering feat for high-rise projects of this scale.

Ambitious architecture projects that will take shape by 2030

Everywhere, in deserts, along coasts, and in city centers, new building projects change how cities grow and work. Some build tall towers that change the view, others create whole neighborhoods from scratch. Each project shows different ways of thinking about design, technology, and how people live together. In Saudi Arabia, The Line offers a city without cars that runs through the desert, Trojena gives mountain skiing, and Sindalah builds a new island in the Red Sea. In Dubai, buildings like One Za’abeel, where two towers connect with a hanging bridge, or Dubai Creek Tower that switches the look along the water. In Paris, the Tour Triangle, a glass pyramid in the south, shows how the city considers height and space. These projects are of different sizes and purposes. There are large factories like Oxagon that work on the water, and places to live or work in Jeddah, Zhuhai, and elsewhere. Some are already being built, with the bases and structure going up, others are waiting for permission or funds. Each project aims to meet local needs, whether for more homes, attracting visitors, or trying new ways to build that care for the environment. Together, they show how architects and city planners think about the links between buildings, roads, and daily life around the world.
