Central Baptist Church, Protestant church in Downtown Miami, United States.
The Central Baptist Church at 500 Northeast 1st Avenue features Neoclassical architecture with grand columns, symmetrical shape, and detailed cornices throughout the structure.
Constructed in 1925 by architect Edward Bennett Dougherty, the church received National Register of Historic Places designation on January 4, 1989 for its architectural significance.
The congregation, established just before Miami's incorporation in 1896, changed its name from First Baptist Church to Central Baptist Church in 1936.
The building maintains a seating capacity of 2,500 people and provides access through the nearby Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre Metrorail station and Government Center.
The church remains one of only three active religious institutions still conducting regular services in Miami's central business district.
