Palm Cottage

Palm Cottage is a two-story house built in the 1890s with Folk Victorian architecture, featuring wooden frames, sloped roofs, and decorative trim typical of the period. The structure was moved to Fort Dallas Park to preserve it and now stands as a viewable historic building.

The house dates to 1897 and originally served as housing for workers involved in constructing the Royal Palm Hotel during Miami's earliest growth phase. It survived into the modern era and was moved to its current location in 1980 for protection.

The house shows how people lived and built their homes during Miami's early years, reflecting local tastes and construction choices of the era. Walking through it reveals what daily life looked like for families in this frontier settlement.

The cottage is located within Fort Dallas Park in downtown Miami and is easy to spot among the park grounds. Visit during daylight hours to see the details of the wooden structure and decorative elements clearly.
