Metropolitan Miami, Mixed-use architectural complex in Downtown Miami, United States
Metropolitan Miami is a mixed-use complex of four skyscrapers in Downtown Miami containing apartments, offices, hotels, and shops. The development integrates these different functions across multiple connected buildings and grounds.
The complex was planned in the early 2000s as a major development, but the financial crisis of 2008 forced significant changes to the project. One tower was reduced in height during construction to adapt to the economic downturn.
Archaeological findings on the site reveal Native American occupation dating back centuries, which influenced how the buildings were designed and positioned. These discoveries remain visible in how the complex was adapted to respect what came before.
The complex is fully walkable and includes a supermarket, restaurants, and cafes throughout the grounds. The location offers good access to downtown Miami's public transportation network.
Within one section of the complex operate two distinct hotels serving different travelers: one geared toward business visitors and another focusing on art enthusiasts. This arrangement shows how different hospitality concepts can coexist in the same building.
