Met 1 is a 40-story, 440-foot residential skyscraper in the Metropolitan Miami complex in Downtown Miami, Florida. Completed in 2007, it was the first building finished in the complex and was designed to complement the much larger Met 3 tower, which it resembles architecturally.
Construction began in 2004 under MDM Development Group and was completed in 2007 as the first phase of the Metropolitan Miami complex. It opened when Downtown Miami was beginning to attract more residential development.
Met 1 takes its name from the Metropolitan Miami complex, whose first completed building it was in 2007. The project drew attention because NBA star Shaquille O'Neal formed the O'Neal Group development company, and Metropolitan Miami was that company's first project.
The property offers residents amenities such as a recreational pool deck, fitness center, sauna, and 24-hour concierge service. Its location on Biscayne Boulevard makes it easy to reach other Downtown attractions on foot or by transit.
The L-shaped curved design creates different viewing angles from each residence toward Biscayne Bay, the Miami skyline, and the Atlantic Ocean. This means no two units have the same sightlines to the water and city.
