Miami Circle, Archaeological site in Brickell, Miami, US.
The Miami Circle contains 24 basins and 600 holes carved into limestone bedrock, forming a perfect circle measuring 38 feet in diameter.
Archaeological excavations in 1998 revealed a settlement dating between 1700 and 2000 years ago, becoming a National Historic Landmark in 2009.
The circular formation of holes indicates the presence of an important structure built by the Tequesta people, early inhabitants of South Florida.
Located at 461 Brickell Avenue, the archaeological site operates as a public park with informational panels and remains open throughout the day.
State authorities and private donors contributed 26.7 million dollars to preserve this limestone formation, which remains buried for protection.
